About
BINA BAKAT

Nationwide
apprentice
(DUET) systems

Who is Bina Bakat?

Bina Bakat is a provider of nationwide apprenticeship systems, focused on Southeast Asia. Apprenticeships are also knowns as Dual Education and Training (DUET)

Vision

Leverage on DUET to transform Malaysia and ASEAN in particular rural and regional areas: Catalyse their "escape from the low and middle-income trap" by creating high value industries and workforce

Mission

Become the DUET systems leader in ASEAN, starting with Malaysia in partnership with:

  • Leaders of public administration
  • Global and local industry players and chambers of commerce

Impact of DUET by BINA BAKAT

Dual Education and Training (DUET)

What is a DUET / apprenticeship system?  Programmes intended for long-term employment using a work-based learning model, where apprentices:
  • Have long-term high-value employment and
  • Supervised on-the-job training along with
  • Job-related education, all while
  • Earning a wage and acquiring higher-level skill that increases during the progression of the programme

Creation of High-Value Industries and Workforce

 In DUET programmes, participating companies:
  • Hire loyal, motivated, and high-productive employees and
  • Align labour costs with their efficiency and productivity whilst also
  • Ensuring their workforce is able to tranform to evolving needs of the business

BINA BAKAT Outcomes

Escape the low and middle income trap

The global industry is at "war for talent". Paradoxically, a generation of young people in South East Asia are unable to find high-value jobs. This skills gap is caused by the traditional employment model, which disincentivises:

  • Youth worker loyalty
  • Companies' commitment to long-term training

  • DUET breaks this vicious cycle by ensuring companies and apprentices are loyal to each other

Addressing the bottom 40% skills gap

Bina Bakat's mandate includes a specific focus on addressing the skills gap, especially for the bottom 40%. The apprenticeship system implemented by Bina Bakat is designed to bridge this gap, providing economic talent development opportunities that lead to high-value employment.

    100,000s of new high-value jobs

Bina Bakat's immediate goal is to create nationwide high-value apprentice jobs across all key sectors nationwide. This mandate reflects a commitment to tangible, widespread impact, laying the foundation for economic development and prosperity.
